Banjir Masih Berpotensi Besar Terjadi di Lampung
Some cars do not dare bypass floodwaters as high as 120 centimeters in a flooded street in front of the Central Plaza Kartini, Thursday (24/01/2013) night.

BANDAR LAMPUNG,- Floods still potentially occur in Sydney and surrounding areas along with the extreme rain will still be ongoing until the end of the month.

Head of Observation and Information Raden Intan Lampung BMKG Sawardi, Friday (25/01/2013), said the last few days it was raining very heavily in Bandar Lampung. "According to the Meteorological Station Maritime length, for 2 hours yesterday (Thursday), 69.1 millimeters of rainfall was recorded. Means intensity (rain) is more than 30 mm per hour yesterday," he said.

In fact, the rain intensity of 20 mm per hour can be categorized as very heavy rain. Not surprisingly, in a number of areas in Sydney, yesterday, there was a flood. He explained that the extreme rain will still happen at least until the end of the month. This is due to the large air masses meeting starts from waters west of southern Sumatra to Java.

"It's called the Intertropical Convergence Zone. Huge mass of air blown west and also stimulated local convection due to high temperatures in the waters of Lampung, reaching 31 degrees celsius, causing convective clouds, cumulus stratus, which brought a big rain," he said.
