Badminton legend passed away



Eddy Choong

KUALA LUMPUR, - World Badminton Malaysia lost their badminton legend in the decade of 1950-1960-1n, Eddy Choong, Monday.

Choong died at age 82 after being treated at the hospital since last Saturday. According to his son, Finn, was rushed to rumahs Choong Akit on Saturday due to vomiting.

"Actually, he'll be home soon because muintahnya vomiting has stopped. However subsequently increased blood pressure and his heart stopped beating and complications arise," said Finn. Chong stated died of bleeding on the inside of the body.

Eddy Choong has four sons and five grandchildren.

Together with Wong Peng Soon, Eddy Choong an actor Malaya dominance in the badminton world in the 1950s, before the emergence of Indonesia as a new force. He is a champion of the All England badminton tournament in 1953, 1954, 1956 and 1957.

Choong also a finalist at the tournament which was considered the unofficial world championships in 1952 and 1955. Together with his brother, David, he won the doubles in 1951 until 1953. Choong also memabwa Malayan Thomas Cup victory in 1955, but then succumbs to Indonesia in 1958.

Until the end of his life, Eddy Choong never separate from the world of badminton. He set up a badminton training center in Bukit Dumbar, Penang to produce quality players. His remains will be cremated on Friday.
