Scientists Discover Drug Living Up to 150 Years

Ilmuwan Temukan Obat Hidup Hingga 150 Tahun

ADELAIDE,- A renowned Australian scientist, Prof. David Sinclair, said he had managed to create a new type of drug that can prevent cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Moreover, according to Professor Sinclair, this drug can also help people to live a healthy life until the age of 150 years, but it still requires further research.
In a working paper published in the journal Science last March 8, Prof. Sinclair explains how the mechanism of drug that can help the body fight the process of aging, according to the website News.com.au.
According to geneticist at the University of New South Wales, three drugs are now being tested in humans, for mengobat diseases such as type 2 diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease.
According to Prof. Sinclair, the most promising is that these drugs can be developed to treat and prevent the disease at the same time. "My research has been criticized because it is seen as the impossible happen. However, my paper work to prove it can be done." Prof. Sinclair said in a telephone interview from Harvard (USA), where he now works.
According to the Reuters correspondent in Australia L Literature Wijaya, a drug developed by Prof. Sinclair will activate the enzyme SIRT1, which would normally serve as diet or exercise, but can also be enhanced by activators such as resveratrol found in red wine.
He and other scientists have developed 400 synthetic activators. Each activator has levels 100 times stronger than a glass of red wine. Three best activators are now tested on humans.
"Drugs that we have developed has the same benefits as those who make healthy diet and plenty of exercise, but has no effect on body weight." Prof Sinclair said.
Expected, this drug will be marketed to treat diabetes in the next five years. Having used a lot of people, just that they can judge the other benefits of these drugs. "We will be able to see the data of 10,000 people, and see if they are healthier and live longer than others." Prof Sinclair said.
In tests on animals, obese rats fed synthetic resveratrol could run twice as far from normal mice, and lived 15 percent longer. "My estimate is that we will be able to delay the start of a person affected by the disease, so they will not suffer from a chronic illness at the age of 50-60 years," added Prof Sinclair. With that, we will all be expected to remain healthy until the age of 100 years.
